Paris, Lap of Luxury

Stroll along the ‘grands boulevards’ and see theopulent Opera Garnier, sip a cappuccino on the lovely Place des Vosges, relax in the Tuileries Garden and select a museum or two, the fabled Louvre -after hours-, the Pompidou Centre for modern and contemporary art, the Orsay Museum in a beautifully converted railway station or one of the smaller places. Perfume, crystal glass, textiles, sculpture, romantic life and more, Paris has a museum for every taste and a private guide will know exactly where to go.Glorious buildings and cultural venues are top attractions but most enticing of all is shopping for luxury goods, especially in the ‘Golden Triangle’, right at the heart of the city where the Champs-Elysées and Avenue Montaigne are lined with trendy stores and designer boutiques, sporting top labels such as Chanel, Dior or Louis Vuitton. In the Louvre-Tuileries district, the Faubourg St Honoré, ‘the most fashionable street in Europe’, is also the place to splash out on luxury cosmetics and haute-couture, a true crème de la crème claiming almost every major fashion house on the continent. The area known as Le Marais is for original fashion and jewellery, art, antiques and upcoming designers.
