From cold Scandinavian countries to warmer shores, The Yacht Week has made a profitable business of chasing the sun. It has made yachting vacations hip and accessible to water loving holiday seekers who are not necessarily millionaires with private yachts of their own.

From Croatia, Greece and Italy to Turkey, British Virgin Islands and Thailand, book a week of sailing even if you happen to be a novice. According to the promoters, majority of their clients have not yet experienced the pleasure of sailing. They are assigned a special Skipper who guides them through their Yacht journey. An added attraction is having a hostess on call, who assists with shopping, cooking and housekeeping chores while you set base on the yacht.

As you wake up to the gentle rocking of the ocean beneath and gear up for a morning dip in the beautiful sea, drying off on deck to the smell of a delicious breakfast or lazing with the sea breeze on your face, experience seven days of sailing to hidden splendours most landlubbers cannot get to. The plus is you to get to participate in exclusive events and bond with a bunch of fun loving fellow sailors.

The concept has turned into a huge success. From 30 yachts booked in 2006, to 1353 in 2015, the New Year looks even more promising with sailing trips planned to the minutest detail.

Through June and September the Yacht Week sets sail on routes that explore Aeolian Islands north of Sicily, cruising through Greece, off the coast of Athens, sailing along the Aeolian route towards Italy, taking in endless views of azure seas lined with sandy beaches against rising mountains in Turkey, riding Caribbean tides on way to BVI and feasting on limestone islands, hidden lagoons, fire dancers and thatched beachfront bars along Thailand’s coast. The most in demand route currently is Croatia, where the Yacht Week has partnered with a mega electronic music festival.

Sailing aficionados can book monohulls (6-12 people), catamarans (8-12 people) or double cabins (2 persons). While you can, as a group, book for an entire yacht, there is the choice of being part of a larger group too. Costs vary in the region of Euro 335 to 1700. One way routes are also on offer
