A writer and photographer talks about his love for travel…

I ’m a photographer and writer based in Huntington Beach, CA. I’ve had the good fortune to display my work in publications across the globe and have recently been listed 17th on Complex magazine’s “The 25 Greatest Travel Photographers Right Now” list, a very humbling accolade. With my work I want to create inspiring images that demand a deeper look from the viewer. When I’m not taking photographs, I’m taking photographs and, when I’m not doing that I love spending time with my wife. In my free time you can find me in the ocean getting stung by various marine life.

INSPIRATIONS…

It may sound cliché but exploration and travel are the initial reasons I picked up a camera in the first place. Touching down in a new country always feels like your senses are rejuvenated; you are forced to stop and pay attention to all of life’s beautiful details.

FAVORITE CITY…

I lived in Seoul for a few years and it will always be my home away from home. The people are always friendly and the food always fantastic. I explored that city from North to South leaving no subway stop unexplored. I truly feel that it is one of Asia’s most underrated big cities. One aspect I really love about Seoul is how mountainous its landscape is, I’m keen on living in a bigger city but I also love to get “outdoors” and this allowed me to do so with relative ease.

RECENT NEW DESTINATION…

Last year I went on an assignment to the Croatian Islands of Brac and Hvar. It was a fairly strenuous cycling tour and I went along to document some things. I had never tried a cycling tour before but what I took away from the experience is how perfect seeing a country by bicycle is; if you want to stop somewhere along your path it’s just a matter of applying the brakes.

BUCKET LIST OF TRAVEL DESTINATIONS…

Internationally: Cape Verde, Colombia, Botswana, Namibia, Peru, Uruguay, Dominica, Iceland and Norway. Domestically: Arches and Bryce Canyon National Parks in Utah have been on my list (and itching to get crossed off) for a while. Plus, I’m scheduled to hike a portion of the John Muir Trail in California this summer which is another bucket list activity I’ve wanted to complete for a long time.
