Alila Jabal Akhdar lies within the interior region of Al Dakhiliyah and is a good 2.5-hour drive from Muscat International Airport. The area is at least 15 degrees cooler than in Muscat year round, making it a preferred getaway in the summer months. Endowed with abundant scenic beauty it is also the hub of cultural activities. The region comprises eight ‘wilayats’ or districts, among them Adam, Bahla, Al Hamra and the regional centre of Nizwa. Known as “The Pearl of Islam”, Nizwa is one of the oldest cities in Oman and its former capital, once a sanctuary for scholars and a stronghold for powerful leaders. The town is dotted with ancient forts, castles, mosques and UNESCO heritage sites creating the perfect avenue to explore, walk, trek, shop and indulge in culinary fiestas.
