This is a zone “between heaven and earth” and is promoted as such by the Mara people. The Angama Mara safari lodge is inspired by the Swahili word for ‘suspended in mid-air’. Located high above the floor of Africa’s Great Rift Valley, it overlooks Kenya’s Maasai Mara game reserve. The lodge has two intimate camps of 15 tented suites, each along its own private airfield. Each suite is spread along the edge of the valley and the 700-hectare site directly borders the Mara Triangle, with 1.2 km of Rift Valley frontage, having its own forests and game options. The Mara Triangle is home to Africa’s great mammals and is just a 25-minute drive from the lodge. Guests can partake in hot air ballooning, get close and personal with walking safaris and make a cultural visit to neighbouring Maasai villages.
