Desaru Coast, Malaysia’s premier coastal destination, is now more accessible to Singapore with the commencement of passenger ferry services from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal to Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal.

The new service, which starts on 7th July 2022, will provide another direct link between the two countries and is expected to boost tourism and leisure opportunities for both sides. The ferry journey will take about an hour and a half, and passengers can look forward to a convenient, scenic, hassle-free trip. The ferry will cruise east along the Singapore Straits and follow Peninsula Malaysia’s coastline up north to Desaru.

The new Singapore – Desaru ferry service is operated by Batam Fast, plying the route four times a week from Thursday to Sunday, and in the process, providing travellers with a traffic-jam-free alternative to reaching Johor, Desaru and the greater eastern coastline of Peninsula Malaysia.

This is an excellent opportunity to explore some of Malaysia’s most popular islands, such as Tioman, Redang and Perhentian. So start your journey in Desaru and work your way up the coast – you’re sure to have a memorable time.

Desaru, Singapore’s Laidback ‘Classic’ Getaway

This beautiful coastline has recently found new vigour, with renewed interest from international brands and travellers. Its most significant vote of confidence comes from hospitality giants such as The One&Only Desaru Coast, Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas and Hard Rock Hotel opening here. This simply translates to much better experiences for us. Between Anantara, Hard Rock and One&Only, we now have more than 15 new dining experiences!

Apart from the sexy coastline, a water theme park and many premium golf courses keep the weekend traveller engaged. The Adventure Waterpark challenges kids (and kids at heart) with its massive water-filled rides, including a wave lagoon, a surfing simulator, and a jaw-dropping roller coaster that swirls in a full 360 loop before the drop into the pool. For the 70’s kids, hammocks are strung by the beach, creating quiet havens for the daydreamers. At Els Club Desaru Coast, serious golfers are found in their casual corporates improving their swing.

Skip the traffic jams of the Causeway and head to the Desaru coast for a long weekend, or spend a week remote working during the day and enjoying the beach life as the evening comes. The Causeway link may be crowded, but the Desaru coast is calling. Spend a long weekend enjoying the seaside, or a week remote working during the day and enjoying the beach life as the evening comes. Let the stresses of city life drift away as you relax in Desaru.

Ferry tickets and service schedules will be available online at desarucoast.com and batamfast.com from 30 June 2022. ◼
