Travel changes people.
We write about how.
World Travel Magazine is a quarterly luxury travel publication for the discerning traveller. We are built on a simple conviction: the best travel writing stays with you long after the flight home. It changes the way you see where you’ve been.
Moods, Emotions & Encounters
What We Believe
Luxury travel has been written the same way for twenty years. A property opens. A review appears. The suite is described, the spa is praised, the chef is profiled. The reader is told what to book. The feeling is never questioned.
We wanted something different.
World Travel Magazine begins where the itinerary ends. We are interested in the silence after the door closes on a villa you waited years to book. The argument that resolves itself on the third morning of a slow boat through Laos. The moment a grandmother touches the wall of a temple in Varanasi and says nothing, because there is nothing adequate to say. We believe the finest travel writing captures what the place unlocks in the person standing inside it.
Our pages hold space for sensory writing that moves slowly, for insider intelligence that moves fast, for cultural reporting that refuses to flatten the places it describes, and for the occasional sharp provocation that luxury publishing tends to avoid. We commission writers who can make you smell a street before you learn its name.
We publish stories, never bucket lists. We trust our readers to feel, and write accordingly.
“We don’t follow trends. We follow the feeling in the room.”
The Magazine
World Travel Magazine is published quarterly in print and digital editions. Each issue is structured around 31 editorial sections — a deliberate architecture that moves from sharp trend intelligence through sensory destination writing, cultural immersion, design criticism, emotional essays, and intimate personal narratives. Every section has a distinct voice, a specific rhythm, and a reason for existing.
The India Edition is our newest imprint, created for India’s most discerning outbound travellers — a readership we have spent two years studying through original persona research across nine distinct luxury traveller types. The magazine is distributed selectively: through invitation, through our industry partners, and at Luxury Tribe events. The readership is selective by design.
Quarterly. Saddle-stitched or perfect-bound depending on edition. Distributed through five-star hotels, private clubs, first-class airline lounges, and Luxury Tribe events across India and Southeast Asia.
Full digital editions available to subscribers. Select stories published on wtravelmagazine.com. Newsletter intelligence delivered weekly to our inner circle.
Only in the hands of the inner circle. Made for the few. Crafted with intention. Each edition is a curated object designed to be kept.
Inside the Magazine
Every issue of World Travel Magazine moves through five distinct editorial movements — each with its own pace, its own voice, its own reason for being on the page. A composed reading experience, from the first provocation to the final whisper.
The Pulse of the World
Takeoff · The Briefing · Unmapped · The Dispatch · Inner Circle Picks · Objects of Travel · The Whisper Network
Sharp signals. Insider intelligence. What’s opening, what’s shifting, what to book before anyone else knows about it.
High-Touch Curation
Private Access · One Degree of Separation · The Love List · Seasonal Drift · Local Time · The Family Table · Suite Life · Quiet Gold
The luxury layer. By-invitation spaces, design-led rooms, long-table meals, and the soft luxury of understatement.
Emotional & Transformative Travel
This Is Not a Guide · The Pursuit · Not for Everyone · Time Is the Luxury · Weightless · The Threshold
Anti-itinerary essays. Desire-led journeys. Slow travel. The writing that stays with you after the page turns.
People, Voices, Stories
Portrait of a Traveller · The First 48 · The Host · Letters from Elsewhere · Where the Story Begins · The Family Archive · Unsaid
The human centre. Profiles, confessions, heritage journeys, and the unspoken weight of what travel means to a family.
Closing, Experimental, Iconic
Wild Card · Elsewhere · Beyond the Map
The magazine exhales. A one-page experiment. A single photograph with a single line. Then the door opens to what’s next.
The India Edition. Why Now.
India’s luxury travel market is valued at USD 72.9 billion. The country holds 378,000 millionaires, 13,600 ultra-high-net-worth individuals, and adds 33,000 new millionaires every year. Twenty percent of India’s millionaires are under forty. The world’s largest diaspora — 35 million Indians living abroad — travels with a complexity of identity, obligation, and desire that no Western travel publication has begun to understand.
And yet. The global luxury hospitality industry still treats Indian travellers as a single profile: big families, big spenders, vegetarian food. This is not wrong. It is dangerously incomplete.
We spent two years building a different framework. Through our ILLUME research programme, presented at Luxury Tribe’s annual conference, we identified nine distinct personas shaping luxury travel behaviour in India — from the Milestone Producer whose trips are performances of family achievement, to the Sovereignty Seeker whose wealth demands invisibility, to the Diaspora Bridge Traveller stitching together two countries and two identities with every journey.
The India Edition of World Travel Magazine is built on this intelligence. Every editorial decision — which stories to commission, which voices to amplify, which tensions to explore — is informed by a genuine understanding of who our readers are, as people navigating wealth, culture, family, and the world.
Born from India’s transition from possessions to performances.
Born from the collision between Indian hustle culture and the longevity awakening.
Born from the paradox of Indian public wealth and private vulnerability.
Write For Us
We are always looking for writers who make us stop scrolling.
World Travel Magazine commissions across a wide range of registers — from sharp, compressed trend intelligence to slow, immersive literary essays; from playful insider dispatches to unflinching personal narratives that use travel as a lens for identity, family, and the interior life. We value precision, feeling, and the courage to write something that hasn’t been written before.
Our contributors have included journalists, novelists, food writers, cultural critics, architects, and one retired diplomat who writes about rivers. We are looking for a voice.
The kinds of stories we commission:
Destination essays that make you feel the weather before you learn the geography. Insider intelligence on where the world’s most interesting people actually eat, sleep, and disappear to. Cultural reporting that treats local voices as primary sources & colour. Design criticism that reads a hotel room the way a novelist reads a face. Anti-itinerary provocations. First-person confessions. Meditative fragments. The occasional piece of writing so quiet it barely makes a sound.
We do not commission “top ten” lists, press-release rewrites, or SEO-first content. If your instinct is to open a story with “Nestled in the foothills of…”, we are probably not the right home. If your instinct is to open with the argument you had with your mother in the car on the way to the airport, and somehow make it about Jaipur — we should talk.
Send us a note. Not a proposal — a note.
Tell us what you want to write and why you’re the person to write it. Attach two or three clips that show us your voice at its best. If you don’t have clips, send us 400 words of unpublished writing on any travel subject. That’s enough.
