The island nation of Maldives, with its endless stretches of white beaches and crystalline turquoise waters just got a tad more attractive with the opening of Finolhu, a luxury beach resort in the island of Kanifushi.

Being a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve site in Baa Atoll, the resort is sister to one of Maldives’s best known luxury properties, the Amilla Fushi. Why the resort is emerging as a top favourite on beach lovers lists is that it is designed like a chic club house making it exclusive, safe and intimate. Some of the best DJs in this part of the world play here, lending to Finolhu a snazzy party vibe, perfect for the young and the not so young; solos, couples and families alike.

All its activities are meticulously bundled together under four major categories. Sleep and Chill ensures excellent rooms and lounge areas that allow you to relax both within the room and outside on the beach. Graze and Groove is for all the explorers and party animals who want to dance, soak in the place and explore the different restaurants and offerings, be it the Baa Baa Beach Club, Fish n. Crab Shack, Baahaa Grill, Milk Bar or any of the BLHU events.
The Cove Club is an energetic hub lit up with chandeliers and pastelcoloured beach divans. Here you can spend time at the fitness centre, movement pavilion, outdoor ‘Palm Beach gym’ and a mellow retro revival area where divine massages get you to relax and rejuvenate. Splash & Play is for water sports lovers who can sign up for snorkelling, water skiing, diving, sailing and playing beach games.

The Oceaneers Club, close by Baa Baa Beach Club, is ideal for kids, teenagers and others with activities specially created to suit their age group and the island setting. For those wanting a more challenging and rigorous water sports rush, Thunderball has an exhilarating menu of water sports and beach games.

Every year in June there is the Finolhu BLHU event that brings together a range of party events, bonfires, dances, music performances and beach theatre and the best of Cantonese, North African and other multi-specialty cuisine. All through the year, the 125 villas which are laid out right on the ocean, lagoon and beach are inviting enough for you to get your calendar out and plan your intimate vacation.
