Russia’s Beautiful Solid Lake

Although Russia’s weather may not be the most inviting, it sure has made it possible for beautiful natural wonders like the Lake Baikal to thrive.

Although Russia’s weather may not be the most inviting, it sure has made it possible for beautiful natural wonders like the Lake Baikal to thrive. Lake Baikal is one of the planet’s treasures. The lake is estimated to be one of the oldest lakes in the world estimated to be around 25 million years old. Not only is it the oldest lake, but it also the most voluminous lake containing 20% of the world’s unfrozen surface freshwater. Other than being a geological goldmine, it makes for some of the best travel photography in the world. Devoted travelers looking for a challenge have also hiked and camped near the lake.
