Kachemak Bay Wilderness Lodge
Back at the lodge, after dinner we bathe au natural in the private sauna before soaking in an outdoor hot tub amidst a fern grove beneath ancient spruce trees. One week short of Summer Solstice the air is crisp and clear with softly filtered honey-hued light bouncing off snow-capped mountains. It’s easy to appreciate why Alaskans rejoice in summer, enjoying never ending days beneath the midnight sun. Separated geographically, culturally and spiritually from her Lower 48 southern countrymen, it is one of her greatest attractions.
