The culinary scene in Barcelona has just received an exciting new addition. World-renowned restaurant group Azumi Limited has announced opening a pop-up ROKA restaurant in Hotel Arts Barcelona for a limited time during the summer season. The London-born restaurant concept will bring its contemporary Japanese robatayaki cuisine to the city’s waterfront as part of the ephemeral dining concept. Open daily for dinner only, this exclusive pop-up ROKA Barcelona will be nestled beside Marina Coastal Club’s infinity pool, overlooking the world-renowned Frank Gehry’s statue ‘Fish’.

ROKA, the brainchild of co-founder and creator Rainer Becker, initially launched in London in 2004 and has since expanded to four restaurants in the English capital as well as locations in Dubai, Riyadh, and Istanbul. Becker is widely known for being the first to bring the robata grill to Europe.

The menu at ROKA Barcelona 

The robata grill is a traditional Japanese cooking method inspired by fishermen cooking fish over charcoal on the boats of the Northern coastal waters of Japan. ROKA’s menu offers an exciting blend of sushi, sashimi, and dishes from the robata grill.

Yellowtail sashimi with yuzu-truffle dressing, Wagyu sushi with oscietra caviar, and exceptional King crab, black cod, and prawn dumplings with roasted chilli dressing are just some of the highlights from the sushi and sashimi selection. From the robata grill, standout seafood, meat, and vegetable dishes include the exquisite Sea bream fillet, ryotei miso, and red onion, Lamb cutlets with Korean spices, and Asparagus with sweet soy and sesame. The presentation of the dishes is immaculate, and the flavours are balanced and exquisite.
