The evening includes a brilliant fireworks display over a private ocean and views of the South China Sea. Enter hundreds of socialites, models and a who’s who of elites including Bonnie Chen and fashion designer Ye Mingzi. What are they celebrating? Being unique, of course, in a way that only Ian Schrager can. The first Ian Schrager hotel to open up in China, he has stated The Sanya EDITION reflects the unexpected and refreshing collection of individualised, customised, one-of-a-kind hotels unique in mirroring the best of the cultural and social milieu of the time. Of course it does. The property features 512 residential-style guest rooms with spacious sweets and 37 private villas each with private garden, large terrace, and swimming pool all set on 50 acres of lush tropical greenery.

It all started with a glamorous opening party
that included a celebration of the stylish Limited EDITION shop which showcased exclusive pieces of art co-curated by UCCA (Ullens Center for Contemporary Art) and the BASE PROJECT. Guests dined in one of the hotel’s speciality restaurants, then headed to the spectacular rooftop Sky bar for the after party with music from Shanghai-based DJ Cara. editionhotels.com/sanya
