The Armana period (1352-1327 B.C.) inspires the Pharaonic collection, on or our most successful, with a particular attention paid to the theme of ‘Love and Wisdom’. A time of revolutionary cultural change in Egyptian religion, art and society also became one of most famous periods of Ancient Egypt.

It took eight years of in-depth research and creative development with every detail being vetted by an ex-Christie’s Egyptologist. The hand-crafted Pharaonic collection is one of our largest. Like all our collections, it artistically translates the complex art of Ancient Egypt’s motifs and symbolic references into modern contemporary jewellery. Every piece of jewellery holds a story.

My latest collection…

The ‘Traditional’ collection is inspired by and reflects traditional Egyptian heritage from across the region. It is dedicated to the woman, who plays a great role in society which no one notices and who has largely impacted the design of modern jewellery introducing and popularising many styles including kerdan and the ubiquitous serpent motif.

Available from azzafahmy.com and the London Burlington Arcade store, the collection features intricate fine wirework and detailing that has been carefully designed to create a layered 3D appearance. The Twelve elegant eye-catching pieces consist of earrings, bangles, necklaces and rings. There is also a strikingly sophisticated necklace with matching earrings that are inspired by and honours the artists & honours performer, Taheya Karyoka.

As our inspiration is drawn from many different eras and international travel this collection subtly fuses Egyptian, Greco and Victorian origins to create stylish individual and unique modern designs. The collection is available in our trademark metal mix combination of 18ct gold and sterling silver or the 18ct gold option and featuring rose cut diamonds, pearls, coins, motifs and calligraphy together with textured finishes.

Travels inspire my pieces…

Wherever I visit, I love to see and explore the heritage, culture, and civilisation of that country. I absorb it, interpret it and translate it into my designs.

My favourite city…

It has to be Istanbul; it’s the ultimate city that shows the Ottoman Empire architecture, cuisine and products.

My recommendations…

Not a traditional restaurant but one of the best places for Egyptian cuisine is FasahetSomaya, Bab El Louq, Cairo. This lady cooks exquisite Egyptian food and serves it through the window of her home—a quirky, gastronomical experience. A hidden gem is the Fatimid and Mamluk architecture in Old Cairo.

My travel must-haves…

A good book, comfortable shoes, a practical bag and my notebook.

My weekend retreat… Gouna and North coast. I love to walk, swim, read and design. It gives me the best of both worlds; I can relax and work.

My favourite hotels… I love the architecture, ambience and the overall experience: 1. Imperial Hotel in Delhi; 2. Tao Garden in Chiang Mai; 3. Ananda in the Himalayas; 4. Old Cataract in Aswan; 5. Adrere Amellal Hotel an eco-lodge in Siwa; 6. Costa Smeralda in Sardinia

With a profound purpose, Azza Fahmy’s vision and dedication have won her international recognition boasting a diverse client list and attracting jewellery connoisseurs from around the world.
