Singapore Airlines and Turkish Airlines launch codeshare

Turkish Airlines and Singapore Airlines have now mutually agreed a major expansion of codeshare ties to cover destinations beyond Singapore and Istanbul.

Turkish Airlines and Singapore Airlines have now mutually agreed a major expansion of codeshare ties to cover destinations beyond Singapore and Istanbul.

Both the partners have been mutually codesharing on eachother’s flight since February 2009 on the route Istanbul to Singapore and vice versa. Singapore Airlines has been operating four weekly flights on the Singapore-Istanbul route increasing its frequency on seasonal basis from 30 May 2014, while Turkish Airlines operates seven flights per week between the mentioned route. It is the strategic gateways with its South East Asia and Southwest Pacific development plans.

According to the agreement, Singapore Airlines shall add the ‘SQ’ designator code to the flight which are operated by Turkish Airlines beyond Istanbul to destination within Turkey and some parts of Europe, Africa, North America and Middle East benefiting the Turkish Airlines globally.

On the other hand, Turkish Airlines will add the ‘TK’ designator code to all the flight operated by Singapore Airlines beyond Singapore to parts in Southwest Pacific ad South East Asia benefiting Singapore Airlines globally subjected to regulatory approvals, the codeshare ties are expected to operate from 1 May 2014.
