Christmas markets are a centuries old central European tradition. In recent years their popularity has grown mark dly, drawing millions of visitors to cities in countries such as Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic. Late Novem er and early December was once regarded as the low season for European city breaks but that is changing. Germany, famed for its exports, is now exporting Christmas markets, with popular versions being held in the likes of Lincoln, Birmingham and Manchester in the United Kingdom. Here’s an overview of ten Christmas markets that warrant a trip.
