Music is the life of Notting Hill Carnival, with traditional and contemporary sounds filling the air for miles and miles around. Historically steel bands, Soca & Calypso Music have been at the heart of Carnival but in recent years these have been overtaken by the static digital sound systems playing anything from Reggae to R&B, Funk, Dub, House and much more. The Notting Hill Carnival is an annual event that has evolved since 1964 and takes place on the streets of Notting Hill, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, London each August over three days.
