Editor’s Note

by | Mar 27, 2014 | Nov-Dec 2013

Winter is upon us. The days are now getting shorter and the temperature is dropping fast. We prepare to bid farewell to the year that has gone by, faster that one would have expected, plan for celebrations with friends and family, shop for presents and compose ourselves for many more of the customary routines that chaperone the year end.

To our friends in the equator where the temperature still hovers in the low thirties (Celsius!) but the claim to winter is christmas trees and plastic snowflakes out on full display in homes and malls, well we suggest you take boon of the weather and head to the beach for a barbecue!

Before we bring out the about-to-expire resolution book of 2013 and make new plans for the brand new year ahead, there is still a case to be made for cranking up the throttle on life and channeling the remaining few weeks into life long memories of delight.

We suggest three destinations, perfect places of diversity, to reflect and be inspired. We unwind in Amalfi, South of Naples, in the Gulf of Salerno. The Amalfi coast is one of the most beautiful places in Italy, a mere ribbon of land squeezing between mountains and sea. It’s only 50 km or Positano & Capri so but every step along the shore takes your breath away, from the dramatic rocks and precipitous cliffs to the clear Mediterranean waters, shimmering all shades of tropical blue, and the steep slopes and their scattering of lemon groves.

We head to Homer, Alaska and explore Lisbon. Lisbon makes an overwhelmingly positive impression on the majority of the visitors who travel to this vibrant, history-rich city. The city is home to a happening yet understated cultural and cafe-bar scene.

The World Travel Magazine covers spa and wellness destination resorts in this issue. We shortlist some of the most inspiring spa resorts of the world. On wellness, we highlight the leading holistic wellness centers with inspiring treatments set in beautiful locations.
