Stepping inside the resplendent Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort is like jumping into the pages of a medieval storybook. This 5-star hotel’s elegant combination of Baroque and neoclassical architecture sits on the banks of River Maigue in Ireland and carries a lion’s share of history since its construction in the 1800s.

As it reopens its doors to the public after a 21-month restoration, a new wing has been added to the majestic estate, including a ballroom and 42 rooms that are as regal as Ireland’s history. Opulent furniture and stately interiors feel appropriately grand with the restored 17th-century Flemish choir stalls inspired by the Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles in France.

“The Manor House draws inspiration from a romantic view of the chivalric past. The building displays a wealth of gargoyles, heraldry, and decorative stone and wood carvings. Many of these carvings show creatures and monsters from the Bestiary, a medieval book of mythical beasts,” said General Manager Paul Heery.

The 840-acre property also offers a wide variety of fun activities such as horseback riding, archery, cycling, fishing, or rowing a boat to the calm River Maigue. An 18-hole golf course is slated to open in the spring of 2018, designed by world-renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio. adaremanor.com
