Bali, the top holiday destination in Asia, is now open. Leisure travellers can now visit Bali without having to quarantine. The last major hurdle that has stopped holidaymakers from travelling to Bali has been removed. We are now free to travel to the island of the gods and soak in the culture of Bali.

The government has announced that this is a trial phase of their plan for travel relaxation, with an option to make it permanent on or before 1 April. This significant travel relaxation is effective from 7th Mar 2022.

Bali’s New Simplified Travel Rules For Leisure Travel

The current rules state that leisure travellers must be vaccinated (with two doses of the vaccine), have a negative PCR test taken 48 hours before departure, take a PCR test upon arrival at the airport, have a decent travel insurance covering a minimum of US$25,000 with an added cover for Covid, and a four-day booking at any one CHSE certified resort / hotel / villa.

A 3rd PCR test will be needed on the third day of stay in Bali, with the cost of the test capped at IDR 275,000 (US$20). From the 4th day, travellers are free to travel to other parts of Indonesia.

Travellers will need to download the ‘Peduli Lindungi’ App, Indonesia’s official contact tracing app.

For the time being, it is better for travellers to have paper-based certificates as they make their way through Indonesian immigration, airport, hotel and restaurants & cafes in Bali.
