When out in the South African wilderness, nothing beats barbecuing your dinner as the night falls. To ensure the fun continues well into the night, Kwandwe Private Game Reserve has now added Campfire Cooking to its menu of engaging safaris.

A well-established social custom and a traditional way of outdoor cooking in South Africa, a braai involves barbequing meat over an open fire. Over three days, guests will learn to cook authentic South African ‘braais’ and favourite dishes using fresh and locally sourced ingredients in between adventurous days out exploring the reserve. Aside from learning to expertly barbeque different types of venison for best possible flavour and tenderness – impala, kudu, ostrich, warthog and gemsbok are all on the menu, vegetarian alternatives available. Included is a hands-on lesson on how to make boerewors, a lightly spiced sausage popular in South African cuisine and traditionally cooked as a key ingredient of any braai. A 3 night all inclusive stay at Melton Manor including the Campfire Cooking package starts from US$ 5,150 for four people. This includes full board accommodation and a wide choice of safari activities.
