The best part of this place is that people here work hard and play harder. All you need is a quick getaway plan.

The desert has a peaceful serenity to it, and where else can you find incredible hidden gems in the desert than the UAE?

Here are a few quick weekend getaways suggestions that will make a great road trip soundtrack.

1.Al Maha Resort – Dubai, UAE

This isn’t just a getaway but a bit of a splurge. The Al Maha resorts have been well known in the UAE for years, as not only the epitome of desert luxury, but for it’s role in the Dubai desert conservation reserve.

Here you can enjoy gazelles at your doorstep while swimming in your private villa’s pool. It’ll cost you, but what’s a better investment than your well-being?

2.Sir Bani Yas Island – Abu Dhabi, UAE

Right off the coast of Abu Dhabi is Sir Bani Yas, a perfect getaway desert island escape. With lots of wildlife and the combination of sea and desert, the island is ideal for a weekend retreat.

There’s also loads of outdoor activities, including mountain biking and hikes. We recommend staying at the Desert Island Resort by Anantara or the Al Yamm Villa Resort.

3.Bab Al Shams Resort – Dubai, UAE

Just a mere 40-minute drive away from the city, Bab Al Shams is nestled in the dunes of Dubai. The resort is built like an authentic Bedouin getaway with stonewalls, shaded courtyards, and secret walkways to help you shed away the stress and take in the traditional Arabic culture. Whether it’s a camel ride during the day or stargazing at night, you’ll find something to let off steam.

4.Qasr Al Sarab by Anantara – Abu Dhabi, UAE

If you’re looking for something a bit further and secluded, Qasr Al Sarab is perfect. From Dubai, you’ll need to drive towards Abu Dhab, then off into the desert.

The entire drive takes about 3 hours, but it’s well worth it once you pass the gates of this unbelievable secluded palace in the middle of the desert. When I say middle of the desert, you are literally in the middle of nowhere. Relax with a shisha or dinner on the sand dunes under the chandelier of a sky at night.

5.Banyan Tree Al Wadi – Ras Al Khaimah, UAE

Just an hour drive out of the city lays a luxurious Bedouin retreat in the middle of a desert oasis. With 101 villas, the Arabian style resort offers incredible privacy for couples yet activities for families. They also have well reputed spa treatments. Reserve early though, because this place is usually fully booked.
