Surrounded by art galleries and bohemia in the borough of West Chelsea, Manhattan, stands a building so impossibly chic, you will be powerless to resist its charms. Hotel Americano, located between High Line Park and Hudson River, is the brainchild of hoteliers, Moises Micha and Carlos Couturier of Grupo Habita, their first venture outside of Mexico.
A former parking garage, the building itself nestles between two others with a facade that is unabashedly industrial and unassuming by day but is transformed into an attractive, glowing beacon by night. Moises and Carlos make use of the space by adopting a philosophy of simple yet ultra-luxe living within the walls of this 56-room property.
There are just three room types to choose from and each room features beds perched Japanese-style atop inviting wooden platforms, accompanied by warm lighting and sleek furnishings. The bathrooms are designed with minimalism and practicality in mind, and keeping guests connected is an iPad, provided in each room for their use.
The Bar Americano is a great place to enjoy a drink with its cool, white bar, enveloped by smooth concrete walls or reserve the El Privado bar, a stylish subterranean space for exclusivity. The main dining room, The Americano, is set high on the rooftop with an outdoor patio and grill, taking full advantage of its surrounding views. The roof also features an inviting pool to lounge by during the warm months, a signature of all Grupo Habita properties.
Together, Moises and Carlos have cleverly crafted a showcase from this structure, its contemporary edge reflecting the cool yet creative spirit of Chelsea. After taking in the sights and sounds of a bustling city, Hotel Americano is the perfect urban retreat.
