Virgin Atlantic is taking a bold step forward in luxury air travel by announcing it will offer free, unlimited, streaming-quality Wi-Fi for all passengers by the end of 2027. Powered by Starlink, SpaceX’s low Earth orbit satellite system, the airline aims to deliver a seamless digital experience at cruising altitude—one that mirrors the speed and convenience of life on the ground.

This move positions Virgin Atlantic as the first UK airline to commit to free, high-speed, fleet-wide connectivity. CEO Shai Weiss described the initiative as part of the airline’s ambition to create a “home away from home” for its passengers, catering to the growing expectations of today’s premium traveller.

The rollout begins in Q3 2026, with installations across Virgin’s fleet of Boeing 787s, Airbus A350s, and the incoming A330neos. Starlink’s system, known for its high-speed, low-latency coverage even in remote regions, will allow travellers to stream content, join video calls, play games, and browse seamlessly across multiple devices.

For Flying Club members, the offering will be completely free—a significant leap in passenger experience. Comparable services are currently seen in limited capacity; Emirates, for example, offers free Wi-Fi only for Skywards members in Business Class. Virgin’s approach, however, promises universal access, from Economy to Upper Class.

This is part of a broader investment into premium cabin experiences. From late 2026, Virgin Atlantic will begin flying ten new A330neo aircraft with expanded Upper and Premium Class offerings. These jets will include six Retreat Suites, the airline’s most spacious seating option to date, featuring 6’7″ lie-flat beds, 27″ touchscreens, and Bluetooth-enabled entertainment systems. Designed for socialising or private work, these suites can comfortably accommodate up to four people.
