Sustainable African luxury in the heart of Botswana
The fully redesigned Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge is reopening in the summer, and features a unique viewing hide where guests can spot wildlife like lions, cheetahs, elephants and antelope any time of the day. The interiors, designed by Inge Moore of Muza lab, are inspired by their surroundings, and are filled with rich colours and textures, such as the leather detailing on the curved and textured rattan chairs.

Inge also focused on sustainable design, sourcing furniture made of local materials, removing all concrete and using eco-friendly composite bamboo decking in the main areas, as well as ensuring that the lodge can function on a 95 per cent solar grid system.
Inge says, “I have a huge love and respect for nature and the wilderness…I aim my design to be sensitive to the surroundings but to also create spaces where people can really cherish nature and each other and take home memories without leaving scars on nature.”

The 12 tented rooms, on a raised wooden platform, feature four-poster beds, a large outdoor deck, and thoughtful amenities. Rates include all meals and drinks, two daily game drives, insurance, laundry, VAT and park fees.
One African experience not to be missed is the Boma, where guests gather around the campfire and enjoy a buffet of African specialities and an evening of dancing, while a choir sings traditional songs. Time your trip right and you could be spending your safari with celebrities like Global Leica Akademie Ambassador Marc Stickler, or celebrated author Alexander McCall Smith.
