Come March 1, 2025, Rosewood Miyakojima will open its doors in Japan’s serene Ryukyu Islands, offering travellers a glimpse of an unseen side of the country. Known for their pristine waters, coral reefs, and relatively remote charm, the Ryukyu Islands have long attracted those seeking tranquillity and natural beauty.

Set amidst sugarcane fields in the island’s north, the resort overlooks the crystal-clear expanse of Oura Bay, offering direct access to a secluded beach. With just 55 rooms, Rosewood Miyakojima promises an intimate atmosphere where luxury meets the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi—an appreciation for simplicity and imperfection. Interiors incorporate indigenous Ryukyu limestone, harmonizing modern design with the natural environment.

The culinary offerings will highlight locally sourced ingredients, showcasing the island’s rich gastronomic heritage. Diners can expect Miyako wagyu beef, freshly caught fish, and seasonal produce, paired with awamori, Okinawa’s signature sake. Four restaurants and bars will cater to diverse tastes, providing both Japanese and international cuisine.
