Maldives, known for its remarkable beaches and tropical climate that made it one of the hottest travel destinations in the world, will soon have an ice rink for those who enjoy the winter sport amidst the sun.

Jumeirah Vittaveli – Main Pool

Luxury island resort Jumeirah Vittaveli, a 20-minute boat ride from capital city Male, will open the first ice skating rink in the country this December. The ice rink will not melt as it will be made of synthetic materials – artificial ice plates made out of plastic developed by Swiss ecological company Glice.

No electricity or water is needed to operate the synthetic ice rink. Jumeirah Vittaveli is a favourite of travelers who want to enjoy the numerous activities of the island in a private and picturesque setting.

Activities under the water are as impressive as the views above. All of its 43 villas have direct access to the beach, which means they can immediately explore the resort’s five wreck dive sites as well as stunning corals and marine life.
