Opening in summer 2024, this retreat, Banyan Tree’s first in Japan, is a testament to the city’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty, perched on one of Kyoto’s picturesque hilltops.
Immerse yourself in the tranquillity of Banyan Tree Higashiyama Kyoto’s limited collection of 52 guestrooms, each designed by Yukio Hashimoto. Drawing inspiration from the concept of “yūgen” and the idea of “Hisureba Hana,” these rooms offer a unique blend of traditional Japanese materials and design elements. The Onsen retreat rooms, in particular, provide a personal and immersive experience of Japan’s bathing culture with their private natural onsen baths.
The resort will feature the signature Banyan Tree Spa, known for its holistic treatments. In addition to their well-regarded therapies, the spa will incorporate Kyoto-specific treatments that blend traditional Japanese wellness practices with the Banyan Tree approach. This integration aims to provide a rejuvenating experience that respects local traditions.
Dining at Banyan Tree Higashiyama Kyoto will include two distinct restaurants highlighting local ingredients and flavours. Complementing the culinary experience are three thoughtfully designed gardens and a bamboo grove, which reflect Kyoto’s natural beauty. Situated on the former site of Hotel Ryozen, the luxury resort is near significant cultural sites such as Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Kodai-ji Temple.
